Food additives and their certification in Ukraine
Dietary supplements (biologically active additives) are natural active substances (or biologically active substances, in their composition are similar to natural ones). Supplements are taken separately or as part of products in order to enrich and saturate the diet with useful microelements as much as possible.
The Law of Ukraine "On Basic Requirements for the Safety and Quality of Food Products" regulates the import and circulation of food products. The same law stipulates that the following must be registered:
- new food products;

- flavors (some types may be an exception);

When importing additives into Ukraine, either an international certificate or other documentation is presented, which is issued in the country of origin of products by a special competent authority. Dietary supplements must be labeled. At the legislative level, requirements for the development of specific labeling are defined. The complexity of labeling lies in the need for regular monitoring of legal requirements for the prompt adaptation of labeling information.

After registration, a sanitary and epidemiological conclusion is drawn up, which is valid for 5 years. Detailed information about the product is published in the state register of special food products.
